Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San), Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD), and East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) are working together on a solution to help with the region’s water supply shortage. The DSRSD-EBMUD Recycled Water Authority (DERWA) has recently requested a temporary diversion of wastewater from Central San’s San Ramon sewer pumping station through an existing sewer pipe connection with DSRSD’s sewer system, to be treated and used as recycled water to irrigate parks, school grounds and roadway medians in the San Ramon Valley Recycled Water Program. All three agencies are currently working together on developing this project concept. DERWA is also working on a long-term solution that would not require this diversion.
The project would involve simple construction, including excavation at the sewer connection location. The connection is located next to an unpaved maintenance trail alongside the Iron Horse Trail behind California High School on the opposite side of the creek from the pumping station.
You are invited to come and learn about this recycled water project, ask questions, and express your opinions. Agency representatives will be available with project information and exhibits.
Please join us at our open house.
