Frequently Asked Questions
Does any “WaterSense” toilet or “Energy Star” clothes washer qualify for a rebate?
No, rebates are available only on specific models. Check the online list of eligible models before you buy. The lists are updated periodically on the Zone 7 and Smart Rebates websites.
Can I receive a rebate for upgrading a “low-flow” toilet (1.6 gallons per flush) to a “high-efficiency” toilet (1.28 gallons per flush)?
No, you must be replacing a “conventional” toilet manufactured before flush volume standards changed in 1992. (The Zone 7 program makes an exception if you are replacing a faulty low-flow toilet.) Conventional toilets use 3.5 gallons or more per flush. By helping our customers replace these wasteful dinosaurs, we are making the best use of limited rebate funds.
Will I receive my rebate as a check in the mail or a credit on my account?
For Zone 7 rebates, DSRSD issues a credit on the applicant’s water account. For Smart Rebates, the California Urban Water Conservation Council will issue a check to the applicant.
How long will it take to receive my rebate?
Because DSRSD bills every two months, it can take up to 10 weeks for the rebate credit to appear on your account. Allow 10-12 weeks for Smart Rebates processing.
How can I check on the status of my rebate?
Zone 7 Rebates: If it’s been more than 10 weeks and you haven’t seen a credit on your bill or been notified of a problem with your application, please contact DSRSD Customer Service at 925-828-8524 or customerservice@dsrsd.com. For Smart Rebates: Call 1-877-466-4447.
All rebates are subject to the availability of funds and may be discontinued at any time.
