DSRSD Celebrates Water Professionals Appreciation Week

DUBLIN, Calif. (October 4, 2018) – October 6 to 14 marks California’s second Water Professionals Appreciation Week, highlighting the important roles of water industry professionals and local public water agencies in ensuring safe and reliable water, wastewater, and recycled water services 24/7/365.
The Dublin San Ramon Services District will celebrate the week with an all-employee meeting and by sharing stories of staff on DSRSD’s website and social media. The District encourages the public and especially anyone interested in pursuing a career in the water, wastewater, or recycled water fields to pull back the curtain and read about how DSRSD employees got their start in the industry. With major construction complete on DSRSD’s newest digester and the recycled water plant expansion, the District will kick off tours again at the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility and adjacent Jeffrey G. Hansen Water Recycling Plant in Pleasanton. The next tour is set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17. Those interested should fill out a Tour Request form at www.dsrsd.com/outreach/tour-request or call 925-875-2399 to reserve a spot on the tour.
Founded in 1953, DSRSD serves 186,000 people, providing potable and recycled water service to Dublin and the Dougherty Valley area of San Ramon, wastewater collection and treatment to Dublin and south San Ramon, and wastewater treatment to Pleasanton (by contract). DSRSD also operates the Jeffrey G. Hansen Water Recycling Plant and the backbone recycled water distribution system on behalf of the San Ramon Valley Recycled Water Program. About Water Professionals Appreciation Week
California’s Water Professionals Appreciation Week was established in 2017 as a new annual designation intended to highlight the important role of water industry professionals and local public water agencies. Under Senate Concurrent Resolution 80, the week begins on the first Saturday of October and ends on the Sunday of the following weekend. The resolution was sponsored by a coalition led by the Association of California Water Agencies and included WateReuse California, California Municipal Utilities Association, California Association of Sanitation Agencies, California Water Association, and California Water Environment Association.
