Wastewater Service

Sewer Lateral Responsibility

Many property owners are unaware that they own the pipes—called private service lines or laterals—that bring water into their homes and carry wastewater away. If service pipelines clog, leak or break, it is the property owner’s responsibility to contact a plumber and pay for repairs.

What Not to Flush

What should you flush? Only human waste and toilet paper. Learn how to properly dispose of medications, wipes, chemicals, and other products that are often flushed or poured down the drain.

Taking Care of Your Sewer Lateral

Your home’s plumbing is connected to the public wastewater system through an underground pipe called a “private sewer lateral.” As the property owner, you own this pipe and are responsible for keeping it flowing freely and repairing cracks and breaks.

Draining Your Pool or Spa

Dublin San Ramon Services District customers may drain water from a pool, spa, or fountain into the sanitary sewer system through the nearest available sewer cleanout.
